Sun allergy

So, for all intensive purposes, I am “allergic” to the sun.

I have Discoid Lupus. It’s an autoimmune disease where the sun damages my skin cells and my immune system attacks the damage cells. When this occurs, I break out in rashes, sores, and blisters.

I went to lunch last Thursday to a Pho restaurant across the street. I was out (there and back) in less than 4-5 minutes. Unfortunately, I forgot my hat and I wasn’t wearing sun screen lotion. I broke out in rashes and sores. It sucked. I now know I can never go outside again unprotected. Unprotected meaning a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, long pants, a hat, and sun screen lotion.

I was never really a sun person anyway, but not being able to go outside even for a little while without worrying about protection that sucks.

I cannot go out in the sun for even a few moments without care.
